Kristin Wallin (Head Coach & Skate School Director)

I grew up in Breezy Point and skated with Vacationland FSC from 1st through 12th grades. I also trained in St. Cloud when ice was not available in Brainerd. I have my Pre-Bronze Singles, Pre-Silver Skating Skills, and Pre-Bronze Pattern Dance tests.

I started as an assistant and moved up to junior coach through Vacationland and, by senior year, I was both competing and taking skaters to compete. I have also coached/taught with the Dallas Stars while doing my undergrad (they ran the Learn to Skate Program). In 2006, I became one of the founding members of Breezy Point FSC. All three of my kids learned to skate, but Marie was the only one who continued with it.

My oldest, Brandon (23), lives in Michigan and cooks for a living. My middle son, Toby (22), is the manager at Moonlite Square in Crosslake. My youngest, Marie (20), coaches for Breezy Point FSC and Elk River FSC.

My day job is Asst Manager at Pelican Square, where I handle some of the ordering, interface with customers, and training employees. I have been with Pelican Square for 5.5 years. While I do have a Master's in Education and a physics teaching licence, working retail management allowed me to balance work and the increasing demands of Marie's competitive skating.

When I am not focused on the store or the rink, I love to cook--pretty much anything, just hand me a recipe. I also love to read and I actually beta read for some independent authors, which means that I give feedback on the novel before it is released to the public. Favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction, though I do also enjoy post-apocalyptic fiction (Hunger Games are fun and all, but the more realistic stuff is better).

I coach because it fills my cup. I can come to the rink having had an awful day, but when the skaters get there, and we get on the ice and work... I always leave the rink energized. This is not to say that every class or every lesson is amazing, as there are always frustrations, but we can step off the ice knowing that we are better than when we stepped on.

Marie Wallin (Coach)

Test Levels: USFS Double Gold Medalist - Moves/Skating Skills and Solo Free Dance, Intermediate Freeskate/Singles, and Pre-Silver Partnered Pattern Dance.

I began skating at age 3, originally coached by my mom, and my first competition was in Duluth. To pursue training under other coaches, I later switched to Elk River FSC--though remained active in Breezy. I have been a BP Skate School instructor since 2019, and have been coaching private lessons since 2020. My favorite things are preparing and taking skaters to competitions, as well as choreographing competition, test, and show programs.

I graduated high school in 2022 and split my time between working as a server and coaching. I love to take pictures in my free time.

Mackenzie Erickson (Coach)

I am a native of the Brainerd Lakes area and previously skated with both Vacationland FSC and the St. Cloud FSC. I was a 2005 MN State Gold medalist for pairs ice dancing and an Upper Great Lakes Regional Silver medalist in pairs ice dancing. In 2006, I competed at the U.S. Junior National competition in Jamestown, NY, for partnered ice dancing.

Off the ice, I am a certified barre instructor at two local gyms and have 14 years of traditional ballet training. Together, these two areas will help create the strength training necessary for skaters with an artistic flare.

In my spare time, I love to travel and be outdoors with my husband Paul, and 2 kids, Ellodie and Colten.

Dawn Anderson (Coach)

Dawn started skating when she was 16 months old and performed in her first ice show at only 20 months old. Throughout her skating career, she skated on a Synchro line that performed at the opening ceremonies at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid and also at North Star hockey games. She is a gold medalist in Pairs and competed both nationally and internationally.

She began coaching in 1984 and has assisted many skaters in becoming gold medalists in Free Skate, Skating Skills, Solo Free Dance, and Solo Dance. She coaches skaters in all disciplines who compete locally and nationally.

Brittany Roberts (Coach)

Brittany began her skating journey at the age of four in Colorado. At five, she competed in her first competition to the song, "Pop Goes the Weasel" sparking a lifetime passion for performing. Over the years, Brittany honed skillss on singles, pairs, and later adding synchronized skating to her repertoire. To enhance her artistry on the ice, Brittany studies ballet, jazz, and even hip hop (though she admits it wasn't her forte)

After high school, Brittany joined Disney On Ice, performing around the world in productions like "Finding Nemo" and "Disneyland Adventure". During her time with Disney, she gained valuable experience in Character performance, choreography, aerial skills, and show pair work.

Following a serious injury, Brittany's path shifted. She married her husband, and together they now have five children. With a busy life of homeschooling and family activities. Brittany jokes that free time is a distant memory. As a coach, Brittany draws on her competitive background and extensive performance experience to guide her students in developing a well-rounded skill set. Her goal is to help skaters not only master jumps and spins but also create polished, engaging programs that showcase their full potential.

Brittany will be taking new students soon!

Zach Lund (Hockey Skills Coach)

My name is Zach Lund, I’m 36 years young 😉 , and I originate from the Iron Range. I moved to the BLA 16 years ago and began setting roots down in the great city of Breezy Point 7 years ago, where I now live with my wife Alyssa, my son Easton (4), and my daughter Adayln (2). Both my wife and I grew up playing and loving the sport of hockey, and I started involving myself with the NLYHA just last year as a volunteer Mites/Mini-Mites Coach. It’s a joy to watch the youth learn and grow in their skating abilities, and just as rewarding to be a part of that growth. I look forward to helping out with the Breezy Point FSC and can’t wait to see you out there!
